image (image search) web-run/image

What it is

The search mode for images. Measured 22 Aug 2026 only on the image category K11: image|Allianz Arena Munich at night, image|erythema migrans tick bite CDC. Both English, both in addition to a fast line. The mode is linked to the images.openai.com thumbnails in the HAR and the turnXview citations.

For visibility

Where image runs, the visible answer is a picture. For site owners what then counts is whether their own image appears in this search and whether the source is attributed correctly — a different optimisation from text citations.

• image appears only twice for us (K11-01 Allianz Arena, K11-02 tick bite), both with English query text. Is image search triggered on more topics than our prompt set shows?
