The second measurement day tested yesterday's instant-answer thesis the best way possible: instant_answer_used is confirmed today — the field held its second day, as did code_blocks, shopping and the telemetry endpoint endpoint/backend-api-beacons-event. Yesterday's two model switches (5-6 → 5-5 and 5-6 → 5-6-thinking on the explainer questions) were reverted — and today three new model switches appeared, each on different single prompts. Read together: the field is the stable part, the model switches are the noise of the same mechanism. ChatGPT re-routes per run which model delivers the instant answer — this will never settle as a lasting "change", and that is exactly what the two-day rule is showing here.
Second finding of the day: a new global endpoint /backend-api/conversation/{id}/async-status in all 33 runs, plus /f/conversation/resume. Three days after the conversation-retrieval migration, OpenAI apparently keeps rebuilding the retrieval infrastructure — towards asynchronous loading.
